Vex and Reginald race through the permafrost, drawn by the song of a crystal buried beneath the ice.

Deep beneath the permafrost of the research station, the earth hummed. Vex felt the vibration in his whiskers, a rhythmic, haunting riddle that promised answers to questions he hadn't yet asked.

From the opposite side of the cavern, the sound of rhythmic scraping echoed. Reginald Pawlsworth was closing the gap, his eyes bright with the thrill of a prize he intended to claim.

Vex adjusted his harness, his paws trembling slightly. The whispers were growing louder now, speaking in ancient, melodic tones that seemed to vibrate through his very soul and steady his nerves.

Reginald paused to adjust his monocle, brushing frost from his vest. He heard the mole’s frantic digging and quickened his pace, knowing that speed was the only currency that mattered today.

The tunnel floor began to glow with a pale, ethereal light. The crystal was near, pulsing like a heartbeat against the surrounding walls of eternal, unyielding arctic stone.

Vex broke through a thin shelf of rock, his eyes widening at the sight. But as he reached out, a gloved paw appeared from the shadows on the other side, reaching too.

As their fingers brushed the surface, the crystal didn't yield. Instead, it shattered into a thousand drifting sparks, revealing a hidden doorway carved into the bedrock. What lies behind is unknown.
