The Echo of the Silver Veil

Two friends discover a secret behind a magical waterfall as a mysterious, reality-bending force threatens their home.

The waterfall roared, but the water didn't fall; it glowed like liquid starlight. Bao adjusted his satchel, peering through the mist. 'Tell me again why we chose this path, Minh?'

Minh stepped up beside him, brushing water from her vest. 'Because the maps said there was treasure, Bao. Though, given your sense of direction, I suspect we're just lost again.'

They waded through the shimmering curtain of water. Behind it sat a tavern carved directly into the cliffside, its lanterns flickering with a strange, violet, unnatural humming energy.

Inside, the air tasted like ozone. The Silent Erosion was here. They watched as a wooden table simply dissolved into grey dust, leaving a void where it once stood.

Bao gripped his satchel. 'If the tavern is disappearing, does that mean our tab is gone too?' Minh sighed, though her hands trembled. 'Focus, Bao. We have to stop this.'

They found a stone pedestal in the center of the room. It pulsated with the same light as the waterfall, displaying a map of their entire world, rapidly turning grey.

As Bao reached out to touch the map, the floor beneath them vanished into a swirling void. Something was pulling the world apart, and they were the only ones left to see it.
