The Canopy Skirmish

Pippin, Barnaby, and Gale unite to defend their forest home against a massive aerial threat.

The tranquil canopy air shudders. Pippin, Barnaby, and Gale look up as a gargantuan shape blots out the sun. The Great Talon has arrived, and it is hunting for us.

We scramble into the dense foliage. Barnaby scuttles over mossy roots while Pippin waddles quickly, following Gale who leads us toward the hidden depths of the ancient cloud forest.

Safe for a moment, the tension breaks. Gale shares a piece of dried fruit, Pippin tips his hat in gratitude, and Barnaby clicks his large claw, signaling a newfound trust.

But survival requires more than hiding. We need a way to stand our ground. Pippin suggests looking for the Iron-Bark, a tree known for its incredibly hard, dense wood.

We reach the grove. Barnaby uses his sharp pincer to pry loose a heavy, jagged splinter of the iron-bark, while Gale helps Pippin wedge it into a defensive position.

The weapon is ready, but the air grows cold. A shadow sweeps over the grove, and we realize the Great Talon has tracked our scent through the dense canopy.

We brace for the impact. But as the predator dives, something metallic glints in the creature's own feathers, hinting at a secret we are only just beginning to understand.
